Permobil to lay off 30 amid AI, production reorganization

Permobil announced a corporate restructuring on November 3, 2025, resulting in the reduction of up to 30 positions in Sweden, as reported by Medtech Magazine. The workforce reduction will affect approximately 25 roles in Sundsvall and 5 in Stockholm. The reorganization aims to accelerate innovation and optimize production by reallocating resources towards strategic areas, including artificial intelligence. According to Emma Qvist, Global Head of People & Culture at Permobil, the new strategy seeks to create "fewer decision-making layers and faster processes." Qvist acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasized its necessity "to maintain our competitiveness in the long term." Medtech Magazine, citing Sundsvalls Tidning, further reported that the intended outcome of the restructuring is a flatter organizational structure.
