Ford Debuts German-Built Electric Explorer with 602km Range in Europe

Ford has introduced its new all-electric Explorer SUV, specifically designed for the European market and manufactured at its Cologne, Germany facility, according to Dagens Industri. This marks the first electric vehicle from Ford to undergo comprehensive global testing, ensuring its durability. As the second EV in Ford's lineup, the Explorer is the inaugural model produced at the company's newly established electrification center in Cologne. Central to Ford's European electrification strategy, which aims for a fully electrified product portfolio by 2035, the electric Explorer boasts a range of up to 602 km on a single charge. While retaining the brand's core identity, the Explorer features a modern design adapted for the electric era, notably replacing the traditional grille with a distinctive shield. Even the base model is well-equipped, offering premium features such as a driver's seat massage function. The interior showcases a 14.6-inch slidable SYNC Move touchscreen, which serves as the central control interface for infotainment, sound systems, and advanced driver-assistance technologies. This innovative sliding screen also conceals a secure, lockable storage compartment. Practicality is further enhanced by a 17-liter capacity center console.
